Stalis sometimes known as Stalida, is strategically placed on the north coast of Crete, between the larger, better known resorts, of Malia and Hersonissos, all of which are linked by the north coast highway. As you would expect, there are plenty of, restaurants and cocktail bars. If you prefer English or Irish style pubs, then you wont be disappointed. All this does not mean that the Greek taverna has been superseded, there are still plenty to be found, many are located along the main beach road.

Although Stalis is less hectic than Malia, it still has a good selection of bars and restaurants. It’s a good choice if you want to have the nightlife of Malia on your doorstep, but prefer somewhere a little bit quieter as your base! Some discos open until late but it is all a far cry from the non stop action at Malia. Stalis is perfect for sun and sea lovers who want to relax, but would like to take advantage of a more active lifestyle now and again. Holidays in Stalis are for beach lovers, couples and families who would like a developed resort offering a range of beaches Stalis resort is great for families with its long stretch of golden beach, and variety of water sports. Being such a popular resort means that during the high season the beach can get quite crowded.

Shopping is easy, as Stalis Crete has a reasonable selection of shops to supply most of your needs.
If you wish to travel a little further afield, then there is always the excellent bus service, or if you wish to travel more independently, you can find plenty of places to hire a car or cycle, but remember to shop around, as prices can differ enormously. When you find a good price, don't be afraid to try and negotiate an even lower one, as this is a very competitive market and they may not wish to loose your custom.
Stalis offers a wide range of accommodations in all kind of categories. Stalis has good public transport connections to visit the other resorts along this stretch of Crete coast like Hersonissos, which is another established busy and cosmopolitan beach and party resort. The town mini train visits neighbouring Malia.  Stalis is backed by the rugged Dikti Mountains. The immediate surroundings inland are pretty, with agricultural land supporting fruit and olive plantations. Other worthwhile favourite holiday excursions are boat trips to the beautiful island of Santorini and the fortress on Spinalonga Island, the Minoan Palace at Knossos and the traditional Crete villages of the Lassithi region.
